Space covers 7

Yuri Gagarin Space Covers

(Part 7)

On April 12, 1961, Yuri Gagarin was the first person to orbit the earth once in his spaceship Vostok 1. Columbus, who opened the gate to the cosmos with his legendary flight for mankind, has secured an immortal place in the history of planetary development.

"He took us all into space" said Neil Armstrong, who in 1969 became the first person to walk on the moon. Indeed: to date, almost 600 people from 38 countries have followed Gagarin.

April 12th is a special day. It has been celebrated as a commemorative and public holiday in the Soviet Union and Russia since 1962. On “Cosmonautics Day”, “Cosmonaut Day” or “Space Travel Day”, the focus is on pioneers and actors: scientists, designers, engineers and space travellers.

Astrophilatelistically, this cosmonaut day has been used for special editions for 60 years. Therefore it is a popular collecting area. The present special catalog gives a little insight into this with four main focuses: the first years, the 55th anniversary, postal stationery and autographs.

You will see many small and larger rarities. If you have any questions or are looking for a specific receipt, please let me know. I am glad to help!
