Shenzhou 7

Shenzhou 7 China's First Spacewalk

For the flight of China`s Shenzhou 7 crewed spacecraft, the Beijing Aerospace Control Center (BACC) designed and printed 3,000 blocks of stamps to commemorate the first Chinese EVA or spacewalk. 500 of them were flown onboard Shenzhou 7 into space, the other 2,500 could not be carried because of load limitations and were just for the commemoration of the event. This flight was launched on 25th September 2008 with taikonauts Zhigang Zhai, Boming Liu and Haipeng Jing onboard. After 45 orbits of the Earth they returned after a spaceflight lasting 2 days, 20 hours, 27 minutes and 35 seconds. During the flight Zhai performed the first spacewalk of a Chinese citizen.
