On June 25, 1894, birth of Hermann Oberth in Hermannstadt (currently Sibiu) in Transylvania, Romania, where his father was a doctor and died on December 28, 1989 in Nuremberg, Germany. He is an Austro-Hungarian physicist of Saxon origin from Transylvania, a specialist in astronautics, considered one of the founding fathers of spaceflight alongside Russian Constantin Tsiolkovski and American Robert Goddard.
